Terms & Conditions

These terms apply when you use this website, become a member of the Basildon Malayalee Association (BMA) or book tickets for a BMA event. By registering or booking, you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we look after your information.

BMA is a non-profit socio-cultural association based in Basildon, Essex, United Kingdom, run by a volunteer committee. You can contact us at info@basildonmalayalees.com or on +44 7399 701970.

• Membership is a family membership: it covers the primary member and the spouse and children registered on the same account.
• The primary member is responsible for making sure the details given for everyone in the family — including names and ages — are accurate and kept up to date. You can update them at any time under Profile & family.
• Each family receives a membership number (for example BMA0385) when registration and payment are complete.
• The committee may refuse or end a membership where there is a good reason, such as serious misconduct or misuse of the association's services.

• The membership fee is £10.00 per family per year, as shown when you register. The committee may change the fee for future years; the fee that applies is always shown before you pay.
• Membership lasts for one year from the date you join.
• We email a reminder with a renewal link one week before your membership ends, and again once it has expired. If you renew before your membership ends, the new year is added on from your current end date, so you lose nothing by renewing early.
• Membership does not renew automatically and your card is never charged without you making the payment yourself.
• Once a membership has expired, access to the member area and member event prices is paused until it is renewed.

• You log in with the email address you registered with. Please keep your password private.
• You are responsible for activity carried out through your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
• If you forget your password, use the Forgot password page to receive a reset link.

• Prices by age: age 14 and over pays the adult price; age 6 to 13 pays the child price; children under 6 are free but must be booked together with at least one paying attendee. Ages are taken from your family details (members) or from the numbers you enter (guests).
• Member prices apply to families with an active membership. Everyone else books at guest prices through Guest Registration. Prices for each event are shown on the event page and before payment.
• One booking is allowed per family (or per email address and phone number for guests) for each event. Members can add family members to an existing booking later and pay only for the people added.
• Your e-ticket is emailed to you as a PDF with a QR code once payment is complete. It admits the people included in that booking.
• Each QR code can be scanned for entry once. Please do not share or copy your ticket — if a ticket has already been used, entry may be refused.
• Event programmes, timings and venues may occasionally change. We will let ticket holders know about important changes by email.

All payments are made in pounds sterling (GBP) by card and are processed securely by Stripe. BMA never sees or stores your card details. Your booking or membership is confirmed only once Stripe confirms the payment, and you will receive a confirmation email.

• Membership fees and event tickets are generally non-refundable once paid.
• If BMA cancels an event, we will contact ticket holders to offer a refund or a transfer to a rearranged date.
• If you cannot attend or think you have been charged in error, please contact us as soon as possible. The committee will consider each request fairly.
• Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

• Please follow reasonable instructions from committee members, volunteers and venue staff, and respect other guests and the venue.
• Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.
• The committee may refuse entry to, or ask to leave, anyone whose behaviour is unsafe or disruptive.
• Photographs and videos are often taken at events and may be shared in our gallery and on social media. See our Privacy Policy if you would prefer not to appear.

Classified ads and sponsor adverts are provided by third parties. BMA does not endorse or guarantee the goods, services or accommodation they offer, and any arrangement you make is between you and the advertiser. We may edit or remove any advert at our discretion.

• Please use the website lawfully and do not attempt to access other people's accounts, interfere with how the site works or upload harmful files.
• Text, photographs and logos on this website belong to BMA or to the people who provided them, and may not be reused commercially without permission.
• We try to keep the website accurate and available, but cannot guarantee it will always be error-free or uninterrupted.

BMA is run by volunteers. To the extent permitted by law, BMA is not liable for indirect losses, or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control. Our total liability in connection with any booking or membership is limited to the amount you paid for it.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.

We may update these terms from time to time; the latest version will always be on this page with the date it was last updated. The terms that applied when you made a booking or payment will apply to that booking or payment.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
